An ode to 2020

 AN ODE TO 2020

We had started the year

With plans & dreams aplenty

Thinking it would be thrilling

as a match of Twenty20

But then came COVID -19

Threatening the human race

Spreading across the world

at a rapid T 20 pace

We banged utensils

and lit up many lights

But couldn’t get rid of it

much  to our collective plight

The entire world stood still

as the virus changed our lives

‘Stay home, wear masks, washing hands

became the slogan to survive

After lockdown,Schools & offices closed

and Work from home became the norm

Sweeping, cooking & washing utensils

Were tasks we began to perform.

Having lost jobs, migrants walked miles

Putting human endurance to test.

But our heart goes out to those

Who had to put dear ones to Rest.

Mid year Chinese threatened our northern borders

But were stopped by our brave soldiers resolve

In December Farmers blockaded the Capitals roads

Challenging the Farm laws even before they could evolve

We need to honour the health workers

By declaring them ‘ Person of the Year’

To the slogan “Jai Jawaan, Jai kisaan”

add “Jai Doctor”, in future when we cheer.

At the end of a depressing year

A glimmer of hope is seen

As the trials are successful

Of the COVID Vaccine.

Congratulations on surviving 2020

It’s a major victory you have won

I pray for your health and happiness

As we step into Twenty Twenty One.

It was six years ago that I had hung up my boots
But it is finally today that I hang up my suits.

After 39 years of
Service to the nation,
I finally retire
on my superannuation.

Various corners of the world
I've had an opportunity to travel.

With many leaders and royalty
I had the privilege to revel.

Have served with the Brass,
Diplomats, Babus and snoops,

But the fondest memories I have
is of serving with the troops

To continue to serve There were requests and  lure,

But the urge to follow my heart was even more.

There's got to be a distance
Between office and the grave

That this journey be beautiful,
Is all that I crave.

I Enjoyed each day & leave With memories galore.

Made some great friends &
Glad that best of them are on Bamboodoor

Before Signing off,
I would like to pay tribute.

Support of my family and the valour of Indian soldier I salute.

A good Quote

CONVINCE ONCE to yourself that you have done your best, Rather than spending the rest of your life convincing others AGAIN and AGAIN!!

Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.

I am not amazed at the corruption in CWG, what amazes me is our response. The games are not a private affair of people like Kalmadi. In our excitement to witch- hunt we are forgetting that there are games to be held which involve the nations Honour & pride. There's enough time later to crucify the guilty, who should be shot like traitors, for compromising India's prestige. For now we need to get our act together to get things going. Our media instead of looking for uncleared debris should help mobilize to complete unfinished projects. As always could Army be the last bastion of hope?? After all it is our nations honor at stake & not just fun & games. Later we could wrap the 'conmen of the games' in their precious toilet paper and flush them away!!

A good quote

'Never Look Down Upon Anyone Unless When You Do To Help Them Rise'
